We signed with Baillie Constructions [BCL.Ltd} on the 13th of June last year [2016], we had just sold our house and Lee Baillie assured us that he would have us in our new home in 13 weeks, there was a delay with the architect, so the people that we sold our home to allowed us to stay there until 20th October 2016….we moved onto the block of land and stayed in our very small caravan and some sheds that were already there.
It is now 10 months since the 20th Oct 2016, we are still in the shed and and in despair, our dream home is still not finished, if all the tradesmen came and finished the outstanding work, then we might be into our home within a week or 10 days, but any semblance of rational organisation, where tradesmen arrive, complete their work and move on is absent, we have had days and weeks where nothing happens due to the disorganization of the principal contractor.
There is also the issue of the contracted polished floors throughout the home, the slab was not prepared for this, and the first concrete contractor came back to complete the polishing only to find that the floors were covered in paint, dirt and plaster, the floors had not been protected….there have been two attempts by another company to fix this, but we are left with stones popping out in several places, there are marks where it looks like a grayish slurry is under the final coat of hardener and the floor is uneven, so there are highs, lows and large visible cracks running across every room…it is just ugly. This is nothing like we were promised in the contract.
The walls have had to be repainted and touched up, and they’re shoddy, not looking like a new paint job, at all.
We don’t have a new house, what we have is a shop soiled and damaged house, that needs considerable work and money which we don’t have…so much for that dream, it’s a nightmare.
